Dr. Joy is a physical therapist passionate about treating the neurologic and older adult populations. She feels there is a disconnect between the current healthcare system and discharge to evidence based fitness programs / re-integration back into the community. As well, a lack of encouragement to be pro-active about ones overall health. Dr. Joy's goal is to create a wellness community that: 1. Empowers clients to thrive, play, grow, and have FUN with movement 2. Live a healthy, happy, fulfilling life 3. Believes exercise is the best medicine!
Joy graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Northern Illinois University in 2016. She is a Credentialed Balance and Falls Professional and Certified Exercise Expert for the Aging Adult (CEEAA) through the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), a Master Trainer for Urban Poling, and also holds certifications specific to treating Parkinson's Disease - PWR! Moves, Rock Steady Boxing (RSB), and LSVT BIG. Joy is experienced in treating complex conditions, such as; Parkinson's Disease (PD), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), stroke, Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), amputees, balance, and vestibular.
In her free time, Joy enjoys running, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, and spending time with friends, family, and her two dogs, Mia and Otto. Special thanks to Perry for helping make this dream come true through love, support, and hands on help!
